1. Telling the whole world you are developing a “desktop-like” internet browser for mobiles, is just pure marketing gimmick.
2. It’s been more than a year now since Skyfire was first released to the public. It was terrible but over the months, it improves gradually.
3. However, it is still far from perfect. Let alone usable.
4. There are some really good ideas implemented. I really like the home screen. It’s socialised and very configurable.
5. The bookmarks & history manager is also very good and has a lot of things inside.
6. However, the rendering is very-very bad. I am using WiFi at home. S60 Web works without problem but Skyfire really has a lot of things to do… Scrolling on pages will produce this checkerboard. All the time…
7. There is no connection manager to define how Skyfire connects to the internet. It uses the default internet connection of the phone. And it always disconnected.
8. I am able to view Youtube videos but the framerate is bad. Like watching a slideshow…
9. And it is really a memory hog! Running Skyfire kills everything else. I only open i-symbian.com frontpage and the free RAM is only 4MB… Skyfire took almost 20MB to operate! I cant believe it. This must be the most RAM hungry application I have tested…
10. To the Skyfire team, get your acts together please… Dont promise heaven and earth to your potential customers.
11. No thanks. I will stick to Opera Mini 4.2 for the time being.
